Although my wife did not like the food I thought it was passable and decent food. We ordered 5 dishes including the appetizer (large) given four of us. It was good but a bit too sweet. We also ordered “fun” or the wide noodle dish which was good particularly with some hot sauce which we asked for. We also had the bean curd rolls with black shiitake mushrooms which I liked but my wife didn’t as she felt it was too saucy. Another dish was the eggplant bowl which we all liked. Finally we also had the minced bean curd with noodles which I really liked. Overall a mixed bag and while my partner would give this a 3, I felt it deserved a 4. Service was good but she was quite busy.

I love the atmosphere of mama-papa place. I love the people and the concept. But the food we got, we didn't really liked. The taro fish has a strange taste and the imitation pork was also not well seasoned with soggy texture. I'm sorry to say so, but the expectations from this place were higher. Hope other people like it and they have customers. This place looks legendary in San Francisco. Good luck with everything.

Great, simple food, all vegetarian. The hostess was really nice and welcoming. She answered a lot of our questions. We had Taro soup, ckaypot mushrooms rice, dumplings and a noodle dish. We also took sushi to go. The place was very busy fir takeouts - constant stream of people walking in for food to go. Dining area is very small but we had a good experience. Just 2 blocks from cable car museum.

This might be my favorite restaurant in the world. Everything is at delicious, especially the eggplant, pepper, and bean curd stuffed with taro! Their gluten meat is fabulous. It's the kind of little hole in the wall, mom and pop place that I dream about. Very cozy and lived in. They just want to make you delicious food. The omnivores I've taken here love it, too! So good!!!

We ordered three things with 2 bowls of rice: 1. Hot and sour soup — probably my favorite of the three. More tomato than other ones I’ve tried but the flavor was great. 2. Sweet and sour pork — uses gluten as the protein and the sauce was on point. Gluten could use some stuffing in the middle as it felt like it could use some substance on the bite. 3. Tofu eggplant stuffed with taro — I enjoyed the interesting combination but it felt a bit heavy. Flavor was good though. The restaurant is more on the hole in the wall type of vibe, but service was fast and the staff was fast to help. I would stop by again to try more dishes as a vegetarian.

As a vegetarian, it's nice to just go to a restaurant where I can order anything on the menu with no dietary restrictions. I found this spot from a simple Google search after being in the area and craving Chinese food. I was hoping for more options but like shui jiao or jiao zi but I just settled on the Lucky Creation Fried Rice. The waitress was friendly and the service was very fast. The food didn't blow me away but it was good. They also seem to have items available that aren't on the menu like bao zi. So it's worth inquiring about.
